How to Remove Stubborn Stickers Without Damaging Surfaces

We’ve all been there—peeling off a sticker only to be left with a sticky mess that refuses to budge. Whether it’s a jar, a mirror, or a new purchase, sticker residue can be stubborn. Here’s a quick, damage-free method to get rid of both the sticker and the glue it leaves behind.

What You’ll Need:

  • Warm water
  • Soft cloth
  • Cooking oil (olive, vegetable, or coconut)
  • Mild dish soap

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare the area
Wipe away any dust or dirt around the sticker so nothing scratches the surface.

2. Soften the sticker
Soak a soft cloth in warm water and press it over the sticker for 5–10 minutes to loosen the adhesive.

3. Peel slowly
Lift one corner of the sticker and slowly peel it back. If it resists, reapply the warm cloth for another few minutes.

4. Tackle leftover residue
Dip a clean cloth in cooking oil and gently rub the sticky area until the residue starts to lift.

5. Wash the surface
Use mild dish soap and water to remove any oily film.

6. Dry and admire
Buff the area with a dry cloth—your surface should now be clean and sticker-free.

Tip:
For glass surfaces, you can speed things up by using a hair dryer to warm the sticker before peeling.
